Original Cabbage Soup Diet Recipe

The original cabbage soup diet recipe is known for its ability to allow users to lose at least ten pounds in 7 days. The diet consists of eating foods according to a 7-day plan, as well as consuming unlimited amounts of Cabbage Soup. The diet included in the diet plan contains very little calories and may be cooked using a variety of different spices and vegetables. Since the bulk of food consumed during the diet is the soup, it is important to choose a recipe that you find tasty, as you will be eating this for 7 days. Since everyone has different tastes and preferences, there are a number of different recipes that may be tried and used.

Here are some recipes used for the Cabbage Soup Diet.

1 bunch basil
3 tbsp. olive oil
1 small cabbage or pointed cabbage
3 carrots
5 stalks celery
1 young fennel
salt, ground pepper
5 cups vegetable stock
1 cup low-fat yoghurt
juice of 1 lemon
1 tbsp. pecorino

Step by step of the original cabbage soup diet recipe:

  1. Wash Basil, pick leaves and mix with 2 tbsp olive oil and a pinch salt. Let the basil composition freeze for ten minutes and mix it then superfine with a blender.
  2. Wash cabbage, carrots, celery and fennel and slit. Heat 1 tbsp. olive oil in a big pot. Add carrots, celery, and fennel and finally also the cabbage strip and sweats it all together. Season with salt and pepper and fill up with the vegetable stock.
  3. Boil up the soup for short (7-8 minutes) then take it away from your hot plate. Stir in the low-fat yoghurt. Taste with lemon juice, salt and pepper and let it brew 2-3 minutes on your hot plate (switched off). When serving, sprinkle some pecorino on your soup for a great tasty. The diet will help you lose 2-3 pounds a week if followed correctly. But as any diet eating the same repetition of food is boring and easy to give up on. One way to make it easier to stick to the diet is to try the diet with friends. That gives you more motivation not to give up.

You'll be enjoying the original diet if you adjust it to suit your tastes. Use your favorite type of cabbage, add seasonings you like and adjust the vet to suit. By having hot low calorie soup available all the time you'll be able to help yourself to a bowlful sot hat you're going to be full and not snack on more unhealthy things.

Weight Loss Surgery Basics

The physical and mental discomfort associated with being morbidly obese can be overwhelming. There are so many health risks related to obesity, including diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, sleep apnea, and acid reflux. These conditions can greatly shorten a persons life span and quality of life. And often, an obese person has tried every diet and exercise regime out there in order to lose weight, to no avail. For those that are more than 100 pounds over their ideal weight, it might seem like weight loss surgery is the only solution.

Weight loss surgery is often meant for those individuals who are 100 pounds or more over their ideal weight, or that have a body mass index (BMI) over 40. Potential patients often have to show proof (both to the doctor and the insurance company) that they have attempted to lose weight through various means of diet and exercise unsuccessfully.

Weight loss surgery is not intended to be used as form of cosmetic surgery. It is major surgery, with several potential complications, and the decision to do it should not be entered into lightly.

Before making the decision to have any type of weight loss surgery, know all of the facts and options. Ask the bariatric surgeon and any other doctors many questions, and make sure that the answers are completely understood. Know all of the potential risks, and understand the commitment that will be required after the surgery. Weight loss surgery is not a fix-all, and a great deal of effort must be made to maintain weight loss, change bad eating behaviors, and make sure that dietary and nutritional needs are being met.

There are several immediate and long-term risks associated with any type of weight loss surgery. These include:

  • Bleeding
  • Reaction to anesthesia or subsequent medications
  • Dehiscence (the rupture of a surgical wound)
  • Deep vein thrombosis (blood clots)
  • Infections
  • Ulcers
  • Stenosis (abnormal narrowing of blood vessels)
  • Pulmonary problems
  • Injury to or removal of the spleen (due to bleeding)

While the occurrence of many of these problems are rare, it is important to know that they are possible with anyone having surgery, and to know what effects they can have.

There are 2 types of weight loss surgeries, restrictive and malabsorptive.

  • Restrictive procedures force the patient to decrease food consumption. These procedures do not disrupt the regular digestive process.
  • Malabsorptive procedures cause food to be inadequately digested so that it is eliminated in the stool. These procedures do interrupt the regular digestive process, and can lead to conditions such as anemia and malnutrition if great care is not taken to ensure nutritional maintenance post-surgery.

While weight loss surgery can help those who are morbidly obese and have struggled to lose weight for a long time lost the excess weight, it should not be seen as a magic pill. The surgeries will help patients lose a lot of weight, but it is still up to the patient to change eating behavior, exercise regularly, and be committed to a new lifestyle for the rest of his or her life.

4 Tips For A Great Bowflex Workout

The Bowflex Revolution is more than just the name of a home gym -- it's also a term that can be used to signify the shift from working out in the health club to working out at home. It has changed the nature of exercise, for better and for worse. To get the most out of your Bowflex equipment, you have to approach it correctly. In this article, I will offer a variety of different tips on how to maximize the effectiveness of your Bowflex fitness equipment.

First, you should warm up before using any fitness equipment. This can involve simple stretching, or going at 30 % intensity for the first five or 10 minutes until your muscles are ready for something more intense. Not only will your body be more receptive to making gains went working out, but you will recover faster after your workout is finished. This means it will be much easier next time to pop right back on that piece of fitness equipment and start exercising again.

Second, you need to measure your progress. Many machines have their own measurement gadgets, and these can be beneficial. However, I've found that it is better to keep a journal. I think that writing it down by hand makes it seem more real to me. Also, it's simply easier for me to track my results. Plus, I can set my own indicators of progress instead of having to rely on my equipment and its limitations.

Third, do not be afraid to journey outside of your comfort zone when using Bowflex. Many people who purchase fitness equipment only utilize it to a small amount of its total possibility. This is especially true with home workout equipment. Try new things, experiment with new settings, and further educate yourself about the uses of the machine. At the very least, make sure you test out each feature.

Fourth, try a variety of different approaches when working out. You can try interval training, high intensity training, cardiovascular training, strength conditioning and more. Try pay combination and keep experimenting to find something that works perfectly for your body. By approaching the whole thing with the idea of experimentation, you'll more quickly find the workouts -- and combination of workouts -- that will yield the maximum results.

In conclusion, I have given you several different tips on getting a great Bowflex workout.

5 Tips To Lose 15 Pounds Fast

How many diets and exercise programs have you seen that promise to help you lose 15 pounds fast? I wonder how many people have used these products successfully? From my experiences I have found that the problem with these kind of claims is that although it may be possible to lose this amount of weight very quickly, it is not always the healthiest, safest option and very rarely does it lead to permanent weight-loss. This purpose of this article is to point you in the correct direction and to give tips and advice on how best to achieve your weight-loss targets.

Most diets available today claim to allow the dieter to shed pounds ridiculously quickly - who wouldn't want to lose 15 pounds fast?! - it is great marketing!. The truth is that although many of these diets do create an initial fast loss of weight, this rarely lasts and is more often than not due to water loss and muscle wastage. This type of dieting is extremely unhealthy and leads to dehydration and lowers ones energy and concentration levels. There are more effective ways to lose 15 pounds fast which can help you keep the weight off.

Other low calorie diets which are touted can work but it is important to realise that severe calorie restriction for too long leads to the body's metabolism slowing down significantly and heading towards its 'body starvation mode'. Once your body hits this starvation mode it will burn far less calories in a bid to stay alive!

The body will respond when entering body starvation mode by using its own reserves to provide energy, these reserves are not just the body's extra fat. Initially, glycogen stores (the storage form of carbohydrate in our body) are broken down for energy. Once this energy source is depleted within a few hours water is released and consequently a drop in weight is noticed.

The common problem associated with starvation-type diets is the resultant weight regain. When the starvation diet ends, the individual returns to the same old habits - there has been no life-style change which is really the key to losing weight and keeping it off. The composition of this weight regain is fat - this replaces the muscle mass lost during the diet and the individuals metabolic rate is decreased. The frustration experienced at this point leads the individual back onto another starvation type diet and so the cycle continues. This is why we see so many people seemingly on a constant diet. Remember - it is possible to lose 15 pounds fast, but keeping the pounds off is the real goal.

If you are one of those people that constantly seem to be dieting you will find that making the following small changes to your lifestyle will greatly improve your long-term weight loss goals;

1. Eat 4-6 small meals per day, balancing your intake of nutrients. This helps increase metabolism as your body is constantly working to process the food.

2. Start exercising - it may seem obvious but it is amazing how many people simply diet without any exercise. This helps your body increase its metabolic rate still further and will speed your weight-loss results.

3. Use weight training combined with aerobic exercise - you don't need to lift massively heavy weights - just do a little, it helps regain any muscle mass lost during dieting and the aerobic workout will help increase the appetite appropriately.

4. Eat Breakfast - this kick starts your metabolism for the day. Studies have shown that people who it a healthy breakfast actually lose more weight than people who skip it all together!

5. Drink Water - This is the energy source for all life, staying hydrated is vital.

There are few diets that enable you to lose 15 pounds fast and fewer still that can provide the continuous and long lasting results you are looking for. It is up to you to get motivated and want to lose the weight - permanently. I'm not saying it is easy but by following the guidelines above you'll be off to a fantastic start and you will avoid the notorious body starvation mode!

Fat Loss 4 Idiots - The Last Review

I am sure you have heard a lot about Fat Loss 4 Idiots, one of the latest weight loss systems. I am also sure you might be a bit fed up with the many opinions and reviews available on the Internet about the fat Loss 4 Idiots System. In the review of this weight loss system I am going to try to give you the latest information based mainly in objective and deeply researched reports.

My conclusions after long and deep research about this system to burn the fat are:

  1. If you stick to the plan, if you follow carefully the detailed instructions the Fat Loss 4 Idiots provides you, it is a sure fact that you will lose weight. I am saying that you have to follow religiously the system, without cheating even a single day.

  2. The first promise when you enter Fat Loss 4 idiots website states that you will likely lose around 9 pounds in a period of 11 days. These statistics are not the average, on the other side, most of the population will surely lose a bit less weight in the 11 days period, so please bear in mind that the main promise you find in this fat burning system website is based only in few individuals that really lost 9 pounds in a 11 days period, although the average Joe will lose a bit less weight in the same period.

  3. Any one that is looking to lose a lot of weight in a short period of time should simply avoid this system. It is well known in research and medicine laboratories that losing a lot of weight in a short period of time is something very dangerous and risky for your health. Only when the weight is lost in a regular way, during a long period of time, the body tissues and the whole systems of the body have the proper amount of time to recover and return to a former good shape, after the weight loss.

  4. There are thousands of happy users of Fat Loss 4 Idiots system, and all those individuals that used the program that I am reviewing successfully can not be wrong.

Again, if you stick to the plan and follow carefully the detailed instructions of this program to burn the excess body fat, there is no reason why you wont lose all the extra weight you are willing to get rid of, in a reasonable period of time with out any risk for your health.

Finding a Houston Weight Loss Center

Tired of ineffective slim-down products? Why not enroll yourself in a Houston weight loss center? There are different centers around Texas that you can choose from, and finding the perfect one is not that hard.

Location

In choosing a Houston weight loss center, there are different issues to consider. One primary issue is location. You will only find it hard to complete a program if the center you are enrolled in is not easily accessible. Find a center that is near your home. Driving to and fro the slim-down center would certainly not be tiring.

Price

These centers require you to sign up as a member. Signing-up involves fees, of course. Fees vary, depending on the programs and facilities of the center. One that has different facilities can be expensive. However, you can enjoy using any of their facilities for free. Usually, memberships cost around $30 dollars every month.

Programs

Slim-down centers offer different programs. Some may have exercise classes or fitness sessions. Some may involve regular weigh-ins and monthly meetings. Examine every Houston weight loss center to find out which program best suits you. Also, different centers offer different in approaches and methods. Make sure that you will be provided with slim-down approaches and methods that match your ideals and preferences.

Research

Before settling for a Houston weight loss center, do your research. You do not want to spend money on a gym or center that is ineffective. Also, be wary of those that offer "guaranteed" quick-fix solutions, which almost always gives you short-term results. After a few months, you will regain your weight. An excellent center should be able to help your maintain your ideal weight.

Walking Gear - Shoes and Clothing

Walking Shoes

Shoes are the most important piece of equipment for a walker. Walking shoes can make the difference between having a fun, relaxing walk or an uncomfortable, painful walk. Find walking shoes with the following characteristics:

  • Shoes that provide support and comfort to all parts of your foot.
  • Shoes that have enough toe room so you can wiggle your toes.
  • Shoes that offer firm support at the heel.
  • Shoes that have a flexible cushioned sole to assist with your walking gait and shock absorption.
  • Shoes made of breathable material, or fabric that allows perspiration to dissipate.
  • Shoes should be lightweight.

There are many shoes at various prices ranges designed for walking. A running shoe or a tennis shoe is fine for a walking program as long as the shoe is comfortable and has the characteristics aforementioned.

Walking Equipment

It is best to wear loose fitting clothes, such as shorts made of natural material with a tee shirt, or a warm-up suit. Avoid rubberized clothing. Following are clothing guidelines to follow for your walking program:

  • Dress warmly in cold weather - Wear layers to trap the heat, yet allow you to remove layers if it gets warmer. As a guideline, wear one less layer than you would if you were outside in the cold weather and not walking. Remember to wear a hat since approximately 30 percent of your body heat is lost through your head.
  • Dress less in warm weather - In warm weather, less is more. Wear light clothing. Wear a hat to block the sun.
  • Dress for rain or snow - A water and windproof jacket makes a great addition to your walking wardrobe for rain or snow.

Walking Gear

Although there is no need to spend a lot of money on walking gear, there are items that will make your program easier, safer and more fun, such as a pedometer and reflective products and lights.

  • Pedometer - A pedometer is a great way to enhance your program. It allows you to track the number of steps taken, how far you've walked, and how long you've been walking for. A pedometer also allows you to track your progress against the goals you have set for yourself.
  • Reflective products and lights - Reflective products are a must-have if you walk in the morning, early evening or at night. Consider purchasing a reflective vest and reflective bands. A flashlight or strobe light will also help you be seen at night.

Make your walking program a success with comfortable walking shoes and clothing, a pedometer for tracking your progress, and reflective products for safety.

Atkins Pre Maintenance Phase

After experiencing the Induction and OWL phases of the Atkins diet, your next step is to enter the pre-maintenance phase. This phase will set you up for a lifetime of healthy and balanced eating and living. You should begin this phase as you come within 5 to 10 pounds of your target weight goal. Your weight loss will be slowed down even further but it is for a purpose. You want to learn the practices and habits that will determine your long-term success.

In the OWL phase, you will be adding carbohydrate grams to your daily count in the increment of 5 grams per week. During pre-maintenance you will increase that to 10 grams per week. As long as you are continuing to shed weight (no matter how slowly it is coming off) you will continue to add grams. Ideally, toward the end of the pre-maintenance phase you will be losing less than one pound per week.

According to the Atkins book, you should continue this phase until you get to your goal weight and can maintain it for a month. This process may take anywhere from 1 to 3 months. Your goal is to reach a state called "carbohydrate equilibrium." This is your ideal carbohydrate intake and it will cause you to maintain your weight perfectly.

During pre-maintenance you'll get to try a wider variety of foods. Make sure to introduce new foods slowly and increase your carbohydrate intake at a measured pace. Don't add 20 or 30 carb grams a week. Measuring out the increases in increments of 10 will give you a better idea of your personal carbohydrate count. Knowing this number will help set you up for long term weight management.

Make sure to check with a carbohydrate counter resource book or a trusted website before you add a new food to your diet. Some examples of 10 carbohydrate gram foods include 1/3 of a cup of legumes, an apple, cup of potatoes and cup of plain oatmeal. These foods can be included on a daily basis, and then increased the next week.

Pre-maintenance is not a perfect process. It takes a delicate balance of carbohydrate counting and exercise to slow weight loss yet still move it forward. You'll need to pay even closer attention than you have before to make sure that your carb gram increase is not resulting in an increase in weight. There is a fine line between gaining, maintaining and losing, and during pre-maintenance you are trying to find out just exactly where that line is.

If you aren't able to add carbohydrates without stalling your weight loss, you may have a high metabolic resistance. You will benefit from increasing your exercise regimen to get your metabolism burning at a higher level. For you, the pre-maintenance phase will resemble OWL more closely.

Some people do a variation on pre-maintenance that allows them to have a treat once a week. Instead of adding 10 grams per day, they allow themselves a 20 to 30-carbohydrate gram treat a few times a week. Examples of the treat could be a piece of a fruit or a serving of sweet potatoes. A glass of white wine or beer also qualifies for this treat. This is a fun way to reward yourself and still be on the plan.

Yet another way to do pre-maintenance is to average out your carbohydrate intake for the week. Since life is sometimes unpredictable, it can be helpful to have a bit of flexibility in your eating plan. For example, if your current carbohydrate level is at 70 grams, you can limit yourself to 50 grams one day. Then the next day, you can splurge a bit on a meal and have 90 grams for that day. However, only follow this method if it doesn't create carbohydrate cravings. Sometimes excess carb grams on one day can make you crave them even more the next day.

The pre-maintenance phase will give you the tools for long-term success. By learning to slowly increase your carbohydrate grams, you'll have a better hold on the amount of carbohydrates that is right for you.

Low Carb Diets: The Final Verdict

New research provides solid evidence that a low carb diet is VERY effective. Study after study shows the impact that a low carb diet has not only on weight loss, but also blood sugar and cholesterol. But before we examine this evidence, let's first discuss carbs and their impact on weight.

What are "good" carbs and what are "bad" carbs?

When I talk about carbohydrates, I'm referring to the starchy carbs like grains (flour, bread, cereal, oatmeal, pasta), potatoes, corn, and any kind of sugar (including fruit). Vegetables are also a type of carbohydrates, but most vegetables are GOOD carbs, and we all need to eat more of this type of carb.

If you are at a healthy weight, and have no disease (diabetes, heart disease, cancer, high cholesterol, etc.) it is probably ok for you to consume the "bad" carbohydrates in small amounts. But most of us do not fall into this category, and until we do, we need to strictly limit the amount of carbs that we eat. Doing this will help most people to achieve a healthy weight and vastly improve their overall health. (Many people have even reported being "cured" of their diseases through a high-vegetable, low carb diet.)

Why do we gain weight when we eat too many carbohydrates?

Here's a view into how the body handles carbohydrates:

Our bodies cannot store large amounts of carbohydrates; we are only built to store very small amounts. We are meant to use the glucose in the carbohydrates for burning through activity. But our diet (especially the "standard American diet") is VERY high in carbs. Because we cannot possibly burn off all that glucose, it gets converted by insulin into fat. Then that fat is stored in our stomachs, hips, thighs, and chins.

When we eat something that's high in carbohydrates, it causes a rapid rise in blood glucose (or "blood sugar"). This signals the pancreas to secrete the hormone insulin into the bloodstream. The insulin lowers the blood sugar, and makes this sugar available to our cells for energy. Any excess blood sugar that is not used for energy (activity, exercise) must be stored for future use. Unfortunately, the way this is stored is in our fat tissue.

It gets worse. When we consistently eat foods that are high in carbs, our insulin levels become chronically high. High insulin levels suppress two other important hormones (glucagons and growth hormones) that burn fat and sugar and promote muscle development. So eating excess carbohydrates not only promotes fat, it also makes it harder to lose that fat, and creates a vicious cycle.

Dr. Atkins would be proud. More research supports the use of a low carb diet, and its long-lasting effect on weight loss.

In a June 2006 article published in Nutrition and Metabolism, researchers studied the effect of a low-carb diet on obese type 2 diabetic patients vs a higher-carbohydrate diet. More specifically, the low carb group eliminated pasta, potatoes, rice, and breakfast cereals and instead of ordinary bread, consumed crisp/hard bread (probably similar to the Bran-A-Crisp recommended in the Atkins Diet) that contained 4-8 grams of carbs. The low carb group consumed 80-90 grams of carbohydrates a day, all of which were from vegetables and salad (no fruit). The study was conducted over the course of six months (a small amount of time considering that it probably took these people years to become obese).

The group that ate a higher-carbohydrate diet obtained the majority of their carbohydrates from whole grain products and fruit (they also consumed generous helpings of vegetables). The two group's caloric intake was about the same.

The results? The low carb group lost an average of 25 pounds! Even more significant was that this group kept the weight off: after 2 years, the average weight loss was still 20 pounds. As an added benefit, almost half of the patients who were on antidiabetes drugs and insulin were able to stop taking the drugs altogether.

The researchers' conclusion: "a low-carbohydrate diethas lasting benefits on body weight".

So what are you waiting for? It's time to finally break the addiction to grains, potatoes, and sugar. Go through your kitchen and TOSS everything that's a grain, potato, or sugar (or made with any of those things). Not having the "bad" stuff in the house makes a HUGE difference in your weight loss success.

The TRUTH about Low Carb Foods

The downside to the low carb diet is that most packaged low carb foods are filled with junk and can make you sick. Most low carb diets emphasize hormone, nitrate, and pesticide-laden meats, fats, and dairy products that you should never consume in large quantities. Then, the "sweet treats" that people use as part of their low carb diet are filled with artificial sweeteners that have a cloudy and questionable safety history. Most low carb foods are a far cry from healthy food.

Other unhealthy ingredients that are frequently seen in low carb food products include soy flour and modified food starch--these products do more harm than good. People turn to these packaged products seeking an easy, convenient way to eat "low carb" with a busy schedule and on a budget. But there are much healthier low carb alternatives that are still quick and easy.

The Bottom Line

The low carb diet is here to stay. It works, plain and simple. But there can be damaging effects of eating poor quality low carb foods. There are healthy ways to eat low carb, and it means eating WHOLE, high quality foods, not packaged products. (Although there certainly ARE some healthy low carb packaged products, but you have to read ingredients carefully.) Finding sources of natural meats and dairy products is also important. It can be an effort, but it's well worth it, especially considering the huge health impact of being overweight.

Fat Loss Training for Women

Forget cardio and body sculpting classes. Here's a faster way to burn the inches from your body.

And the answer will shock you.

I train a lot of men and women who do the same workouts - and here's the shocker: Most of the time, the women get the best results by using interval training and superset strength training.

Why?

Because most women are doing such ineffective workouts right now, that they are getting no results. Cardio is boring. And possibly doesn't even work. But when they switch to intervals and resistance training, their bodies get lean fast and they lose inches fast!

However, I also sometimes will change the program for women in order - we might reduce the number of sets per exercise or we use body weight exercises in place of dumbbell exercises.

And the reasoning here is this. To "bulk up", bodybuilders need to do a lot of volume (a lot of sets and reps) - and they have to eat a lot, which obviously people aren't going to be focusing on if they want to lose body fat.

Women who want to burn inches from their things are not going to be pigging out. They're going to be eating what they're supposed to.

But back to training. In my Turbulence Training programs we don't have body builder type volume in the first place. So most women, like I said, just train normally on Turbulence Training and don't change it at all - and they lose fat and do NOT bulk up.

However, I sometimes change the program only for a woman's mindset purpose as opposed to an actual physical purpose. Instead of doing three sets per exercise, we'll just do one or maybe two sets per exercise. That way it just decreases the amount of volume and reduces the chance of gaining muscle. So that's the biggest change that I'll make for women.

It really just eases their mind so they won't think they are getting big and bulky.

On the other hand, another mindset change for women is if we use a push up in place of a dumbbell chest press women are much more comfortable doing push ups because they don't associate that with gaining mass.

Push ups are tough, and elevating your feet makes them tougher. So if a woman is using 30 or 35 pounds in dumbbell chest presses, then sometimes they get a little anxious about that so we'll just switch them over to decline push ups.

These push ups are very difficult exercise, still getting the same type of results, same benefits, but now they're not worried about the so-called bulking up.

So, those are the changes I make and I'm not hesitant to say I'm making them mostly to suit the mindset of the person because I know we're not losing results.

And another thing to consider about volume of training is that you don't have to do six different exercises for a body part and four sets per exercise.

Strength training is a very efficient process. So even if you only did one hard set of each exercise you're probably going to get about 75% of the results if you did three sets.

So that's an important consideration for people that are really pressed for time. Men who like to build muscle can do less cardio and eat more.

People just have to realize that if they only have 10 or 15 minutes they can still benefit their body and their fat loss efforts just by training at a reduced volume.

Craig Ballantyne believes cardio has a dark side, and has invented better fat burning workouts.

How to Control Cravings

Don't let your cravings destroy your weight loss program. Learn how to stop eating and stick to your diet so you burn fat on your fat loss program.

Cravings can kill a good fat loss program.

One day you're sailing along losing body fat, and the next day you end up eating 1500 calories of M&M's. You get frustrated, you skip your workout, and the next thing you know you've fallen off the wagon for three days or three weeks.

Don't worry, though. I can show you how to stop this behavior, so you don't ever let this happen again. Here's how to control cravings and beat body fat for good!

"Anybody have this experience? I really do want to lose the fat but everytime I walk by a convenience store, my brain wants to get some junk food even after I've worked out!

I do try to resist the temptations but sometimes I do give in and it's wrecking my progress!

How much willpower does a person have to have in this fat loss thing? How can I get rid of these temptations once and for all?"

My answer...

Hi!

This is going to sound too simplistic, but trust me, it will work.

You need to change your self-image.

Right now, you believe you are...

1) The type of person that falls off the wagon everytime you walk by a convenience store.

You must change your self-image and see yourself as...

2) A disciplined eater who eats for fat burning, mental energy, and to fuel your workouts and lifestyle, AND who treats themselves every once in a while to pre-planned treats.

Let me give you an example of how this works...

As I've mentioned before on the site, I used to bite my nails.

Disgusting habit.

But I'm a fitness professional.

And fitness professionals do NOT have disgusting habits.

So I changed my self-image.

In my mind, I became the type of person who does NOT bite their nails.

And now everytime I am tempted to bite my nails, I stop and say to myself, "I do not bite my nails. That's disgusting. I do not have disgusting habits".

It literally worked overnight.

So, it doesn't matter if you walk by the store, go into the store, buy the junk food, or even take the wrapper off, all that matters is that you stop yourself before you eat the junk and say to yourself...

"I am not the type of person that sabotages all their hard work by eating junk food. I have control over my cravings, and I eat only foods that contribute to my fat burning program and to a healthy lifestyle. And every once in a while I allow myself a planned treat as a reward."

That's ALL that matters.

Now, you must truly believe in yourself and in your new self-image.

It will only work if you believe in this mindset shift.

But I already believe in you and know you can do it.

That's it. Good luck. Change your mindset today and start building your new body immediately.

If you are committed to a good training program, than it will be easier to get your mind to commit to a new way of thinking about your diet habits. By getting control of your cravings, you will burn fat and lose weight.

Who Succeeds at Long-Term Weight Loss?

Is true long-term weight loss really possible?

We've all heard the statistics that say most people who lose weight will gain most of it back again in a very short amount of time. Those statistics can be discouraging, because losing a significant amount of weight, from 5% to even 25% of your total body mass, is hard work and it takes a huge commitment.

If you get help from a weight loss clinic or doctor specializing in obesity, the process can be expensive, too. How can you know if you'll be one of the "biggest losers" who manages win the long-term weight loss battle?

The National Weight Control Registry (NWCR) has the resources to actually study this issue, and their findings are important clues to the odds of losing weight and keeping it off.

They have the voluntary participation of over 4,000 members who have lost at least 30 pounds, and who have kept it off for at least one year. The greatest value of this program is that they study the successes, as much as they study the failures, so they are learning what works as well as what doesn't.

The successful folks, the ones who lose their excess pounds and manage to stay thin over a long period of time, have a number of things in common:

1. They eat breakfast, usually consisting of cereal and fruit.

2. They continue to eat a low-calorie, low-fat diet.

3. They're active, and stick with their exercise program even after they've thinned down. Most participate in some form of physical activity for at least an hour a day, with walking being the most common form of exercise.

4. They get on the scales at least once a week.

5. They maintain their weight for at least two years after the weight loss - in other words, the longer you keep it off, the lower your chances of getting fat again.

What are the risk factors?

People who start to regain their weight seem to have some common traits, as well. Of particular importance is maintaining control of your eating habits. People who regain at least part of their weight tend to have periodic losses of control, and may experience occasional bing eating.

The folks who keep on the same eating schedule and diet every day of the week, and even on holidays, tended to keep their weight stable. Those who fluctuate with their diet are more likely to get lax about the amount of calories they consume, and the numbers on the scale start creeping back up.

Depression has a significant effect on the study's participants, as well. Frequent bouts of depression or dark mood swings makes regaining the weight more likely. Since depression is now seen as a medical condition, and many treatment options are available, it makes sense to talk to your doctor about this issue if you need to.

Keys to successful long-term maintenance of a healthy weight:

Stay active, remember your commitment to a low-calorie, low-fat diet every single day, and seek help for depression if mood swings affect your eating choices.

And remember - the longer you keep the weight off, the easier it is to stay thin, so commit to staying vigilant with your diet for at least two years. Success with long-term weight loss is possible - and you could be one of the "biggest winners".

Cabbage Soup Diet - Cruciferous Cabbage Can Kill Cancer Cells

Aside from its role in the Cabbage Soup Diet, cabbage also plays an important part in fighting against Cancer. Cancer is one of the primary causes of the increasing mortality rate in the world. It affects everyone - the rich and the poor, the young and the old, men, women, and children alike.

Although cancer is mainly hereditary, we can still do ways to avoid it. One of which is consuming cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli and cabbage.

Researches and Studies in Cabbages

In the National Cancer Research Conference held recently in Britain, a study was conducted and presented that green leafy vegetables such as cabbage and Brussels sprout contain a certain compound - indole-3-carbinol (I3C) - that can be used to kill cancer cells, most especially when used in combination with the chemotherapy drugs. The indole group of sulfur compounds binds to the chemical carcinogens and stimulates enzymes that will detoxify those carcinogens. The I3C found in cabbages appear to have the effects on estrogen metabolism, helping prevent breast cancer. Such compound is also significant in preventing or retarding cancer of the prostate.

A study was also conducted by the Netherlands Cohort on Diet and Cancer. The study revealed that those eating the most vegetables gained a 25% drop in their colorectal risk. However, those who consumed the most cruciferous vegetables benefited a 49% lower risk for colorectal cancer.

Cabbages Fight Against Cancer

In Singapore, a study found that in non-smokers, regular consumption of cruciferous vegetables reduced lung cancer risk by 30%. Meanwhile, a 69% drop in lung cancer risk was found with the smokers.

A research which was published in the International Journal of Cancer has proven that cabbages, along with other cruciferous vegetables, can also reduce the risk of bladder cancer.

Crucifers' well-known properties in fighting against cancer are thought to have resulted from their great levels of active phytochemicals known as glucosinolates. These phytochemicals are metabolized by our bodies into powerful and rather effective anti-carcinogens known as isothiocyanates.

Proven Benefits of Cabbages

Studies, both in humans and animals, have consistently shown that diets that are high in cruciferous vegetables, such as cabbage, are associated with lower occurrence of a variety of cancer.

With the 94 studies that have shown the relationship between Brassica or cruciferous vegetables and cancer, 70% of the studies revealed that cabbage consumption was more associated with a lower risk of cancer, especially of the stomach, colon, and lung.

The protective benefits of cabbage and other cruciferous vegetables were even more evident in three groups typically at higher risk for cancer: smokers, men, and older individuals who aged at least 64. Consuming half of a head of cabbage everyday or very large amounts of other cruciferous vegetables is what it would take for you to have the kind of health risk reduction that you are searching for.

And to get the most benefit and advantage from your cruciferous vegetables, most especially the cabbages, ensure that you choose organically grown vegetables because their phytonutrients levels are primarily higher than those cabbages that are conventionally grown. Lightly steam your cabbages as this method of cooking retains the most phytonutrients and maximizes their availability.

Eliminate Belly Fat By Doing Stomach Exercises

Summers over? Thats good isnt it? If you missed out all the summer fun because of the belly fat that you couldn't manage to lose, dont be sad. Now we have three more seasons before the next summer arrives. What does that mean? It means that you have three seasons for you to do your stomach exercises regularly and hope that by next summer youll have that flat stomach that youve been dreaming of all your life. Imagine this, even if you do one stomach exercise for 5 minutes a day before summer comes, do you think that youll get that flat stomach you desire eventually? Believe me, its doable.

Now is the time for renewal and for new beginnings. Summer is a season where half dressed males and females flaunt what theyve got, with bare midriffs and lean tummies. Stop! Halt! Do you dare go out in your bathing suit next summer? Or are you worried about that unsightly little (or so youd like to think) bulge where your tummy used to be? Dont fret! There are several stomach exercises that can help you get your tummy back into shape in no time. Here are two stomach exercises that are very good and effective (if done faithfully) that will help you get that lean stomach that you can flaunt. Before you start, do remember to consult with a pro and always start with a good warm up session to avoid any injury.

The Hip Lift

For this exercise you will need a mat or a towel. First lie on your back on a flat surface, like the floor. Make sure the mat or towel cushions your spine. Now place your arms beside you with the palms facing up toward the ceiling. Lift your legs up into the air at a ninety degree angle with your torso. This means that the soles of your feet are facing the ceiling. Keep your legs as straight as possible and try not to bend your knees. Now, while contracting your stomach muscles and pulling your bellybutton towards your spine, try slowly lifting your hips to a few inches off the floor. Now hold this position. Make sure your legs are still straight. Slowly lower your hips back to the starting position. You can try this a few times every day.

The Seated Torso Twist

For this stomach exercise, you begin with a sitting position. First, bend your knees so that your feet are flat against the floor. Place your feet slightly apart (about hip width). Put your arms straight out in front of you with your fingers interlocking. Now contract your stomach muscles and slowly lean back to about forty-five degrees. While still holding this contraction, rotate your torso to the right as far as you can comfortably. Remember to use your stomach muscles to control your movement. You dont want your arms to lead this movement, but need to have your upper body moving. One you have rotated to as far as you can, rotate back to the starting position in the center. Now repeat the movement and rotate to the left side. Keep in mind that you need to go slow. Never allow the momentum to twist you and make sure your movements are controlled.

Okay, now it's your turn to flaunt your flat stomach to the world.

Why Cardio Machines Are Horrible For Fat Loss

Have you ever noticed that just about 80% of all people in the gyms these days are running the treadmill in a dreaded attempt to lose weight? Has it been working for them? NO!! The average person out there feels that if they run the treadmill like a lab rat on a wheel they're gonna lose weight. I see hundreds of obese people spending 60-90 minutes on the treadmill just toiling away.

The cardio training these days is great for the heart but horrible for overall fitness and weight loss. Yet people just keep walking forever on these machines! In order to lose weight on a regular basis, the average person needs to eat healthy of course and mix up their training routine. The best way to shock the body into fitness and weight loss is to perform medium resistance exercises in a non stop "Circuit".

One exercise after the other with Cardio mixed in between. Muscle has memory and if you think you're gonna lose a ton of weight just walking the treadmill ,you have another thing coming. Performing large muscle group exercises back to back is key for speeding up the metabolism. This is why medium resistance exercises that work large muscle groups performed in a "Circuit" is your best way to go. I feel cardio training does need to be thrown in the mix but the old myth of burning calories is over rated! Cardio is great for fitness and the heart health but if you need to burn fat and re-shape your body, Circuit training is the key. 300 calories are burned on a treadmill but the body now will burn calories for over 36 hours after a circuit training routine is performed.

Would you rather burn calories for 36 hours after your circuit workout of just burn a tiny 300 calories on a treadmill? I feel bad for those that were taught by a bad personal trainer that cardio is the best form of exercise for fat loss. IT IS NOT. Any real trainer knows that mixing up medium resistance training, healthy diet and light cardio will produce a Turbulence effect on the body. Shocking your system to then burn fat. If performed correctly, you truly only need to be in the gym 45 minutes 3-4 days a week. NOT 7 DAYS PER WEEK FOR 90 MINUTES ON A TREADMILL. Look around. How many of your friends that walk a treadmill all week really look slim? A Circuit routine will guarantee you much faster results.

If you feel you're tired of the tiny fat loss results with the treadmill and need to really lose weight fast. Please visit http://www.PureFatBurning.com for over 30 Free tips and workouts regarding Circuit Training. It's not to late to lose the weight fast. Shannon Macri

Weight Loss - The Ugly Truth About Losing Weight Fast!

Do you want to lose weight fast?

If yes, you need to know that the best way to lose weight is to do your exercises.

It's a well known fact that most of the diet programs don't work. Even if many of them seem to work on the short term, people will regain the extra weight they've burned almost immediately after they stop the diet.

In many case, they will gain more weight after the weight loss program they tried.

Then, they will start again with a new diet (or the same), lose weight again and stop.

I've seen my beloved mother doing this for years. I was wondering why I wasn't allowed to drink those slim fast milkshakes... It seemed really delicious.

Please understand that I am not saying that slim fast doesn't work. What I want you to understand is that most of the time, people are subject to what I call the "after diet" syndrome.

What is this?

After they lose some pounds, they will stop dieting, and find themselves caught in an infernal diet loop.

Are you going to avoid all these delicious foods all your life?

I'm sure you answered no to this question.

So what you need to do?

Just try something different. You are not obliged to take those traditional diet solutions.

As an example, you can try the turbulence training system. This will help you to burn the fat and feed the muscle at the same time.

Instead of focusing on losing weight, you will focus on burning carbs by doing exercises.

Discover Real Weight Loss Results That Work

This article will review the health benefits of losing weight and how to reach these goals. Weight loss isn't easy to achieve but with a little determination and quality information you can make it happen. Many of you will start off the New Year with excitement about reaching your ultimate goals. Keep that excitement and let's begin!

Weight loss is not something that can be done quickly in most cases. It's more of a lifestyle change that you desire. If you really want to change then do it.

Some points you want to consider for your new healthier weight loss program will be gaining the knowledge to succeed. Another matter is your overall health. If you are healthier your weight will be also. Learn about portion sizes and negative calories.

One thing you will need to acquire for your weight loss results is information.

Information about weight loss may require some intelligent research on your part. There are many things that are just plain common sense and are where your will power will have to kick in.

Drinking cokes and sweet drinks all day won't benefit your weight loss program. You may have to learn what junk food actually is with your research, and then cut these out of your diet as much as possible. Exercise works even better than cutting calories so make sure that you incorporate some form of exercise into your everyday routine. Calories do count though so make sure that you do count them if you want to see greater weight loss results.

Portions are another key point to consider. You must realize that you have been forced by the media and fast food restaurants to consume unnatural portion sizes. "Super size it" is a phrase that you will realize is harmful to your health. "Just say no" is your new positive motto.

Eat your larger meals earlier in the day and don't skip breakfast. Eat a lighter dinner. You may have greater results by eating six smaller meals throughout the day instead of the traditional three.

A healthier you is a slimmer you! Take a healthy approach to life if you want to reap the benefits of weight loss. Your body can't function correctly and eliminate body waste efficiently if it's not in shape.

When you are healthy you will be confident and feel better about yourself and others. You will make smarter choices that you can cherish in the years ahead. Think about it as investing in yourself. Aren't you the most important person to invest in? Others around you will benefit from your improvements as well.

Some nutritious foods are known as "Negative Calories Foods". What are these "magical" foods? Tomatoes actually burn more calories when you eat them then they contain. Other foods that may fit into this category are: Apples Grapefruit Oranges Lettuce Onion Spinach Broccoli Celery and more

This means that you are consuming fewer calories than you are burning by your effort to chew and consume them. You burn more energy digesting them than they actually contain.

Most negative calorie foods contain plenty of vitamins, minerals and enzymes to break down these foods for better digestion.

Remember weight loss is not easy and effortless. You will have to put work into it just as you do with other important things in your life. You just have to decide precisely what is important to you and if it is worth your precious time. I hope that you will decide on the most important thing in your life, you!

Circuit Training For Fat Loss

The term circuit training simply refers to a group of different exercises that are done back to back in a round-robin "circuit" fashion. This is contrasted with the more traditional method of doing multiple sets of a single exercise before moving on to the next exercise. Circuit training can be utilized with any exercises under the sun, from weight lifting to machines to bodyweight exercise and even bouts of walking or running.

Circuit training has many benefits. The first benefit is that it is much more time efficient. By doing different exercises back to back, it minimizes rest time in between sets and a lot more work is accomplished in a shorter period of time. The second main benefit is an increase in caloric expenditure over traditional methods. This is due to less rest (or no rest) when switching from one exercise to the next.

When doing multiple sets of the same exercise, you have to rest those muscles before they can work again. With circuit training, since you are switching exercises, your muscles from the previous exercise will rest while you are doing the next exercise. Your cardiovascular system isn't getting to rest and this is what leads to the third benefit of circuit training: you can get your resistance and cardio training done at the same time.

The cardiovascular system has two main ways of providing energy to the muscles. The first way is known as oxidative or more commonly referred to as "aerobic." Aerobic exercise is where the intensity level is low enough that the body is able to supply oxygen to the muscles rapidly enough to be used for energy. Aerobic activities (walking, running, Jazzercise) can typically be done for long durations meaning anything over 2 minutes up to multiple hours in the case of long distance running and bicycle riding.

The second way muscles get energy is known as "anaerobic" or without oxygen. This is where the exercise intensity is too high to wait for oxygen, so energy is provided to the muscles through a chemical process. This energy is of a very short duration and depending on the specific process (ATP-CP or glycolysis) can last from about 10 seconds to 2 minutes. These different energy pathways (aerobic/anaerobic) don't work completely independent of each other. The initiation of activity always activates the anaerobic system and there will always be an aerobic component as well. How you train will determine which energy system is emphasized more than the other.

Circuit training focuses primarily on the anaerobic system because you are doing different exercises with little or no rest in between them. This is good because studies have shown that increases in anaerobic performance transfer to increases in aerobic performance as well. The reverse however, is not true. No amount of aerobic activity will help much anaerobically because you are never working hard enough to push past the lactic threshold and activating that system to any appreciable degree.

So, in case I lost some of you, here is the bottom line: Anaerobic activity will lead to a high intensity workout that burns fat, builds a strong heart and cardiovascular system as well as provides more stamina and a faster recovery time than traditional aerobic training. As a bonus, since we are using resistance exercises, you will add lean muscle mass as well which will further help to burn fat by increasing your metabolism (not to mention make you look better and be stronger.)

When combined with a sensible nutrition plan, you can expect to see some good results in terms of weight loss and body composition with an intense circuit workout three or four times per week. Good luck with your training and stay healthy.
